As birth workers, we know that nature is a dynamic and powerful teacher. It helps us open to lessons we didn’t even know we needed to learn, lessons about patience, cycles, surrender, and renewal. With this as one of our core philosophies, choosing Iceland as the venue for our 2026 retreat felt organic and deeply aligned with the spirit of Bella Doula Retreats. Here, surrounded by elemental forces of fire and ice, waterfalls, and vast open skies, we invite you to reconnect with nature, with your calling and with yourself.
Meals at our retreat
Throughout the retreat, we’ll savour thoughtfully prepared meals featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients, with vegetarian and vegan options available. Each evening concludes with a three-course dinner woven together with laughter, reflection, and great conversation.

Getting from Keflavík and Reykjavík to Arnarstapi by car:
From Keflavík Airport, take Route 41 toward Reykjavík. After about 45 minutes, just before reaching the city, follow signs for Route 1 (the Ring Road) heading north and west toward Borgarnes. Continue on Route 1 through the Hvalfjörður Tunnel and past Borgarnes, then turn onto Route 54 toward the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. After about an hour, turn left onto Route 574, which circles the peninsula and leads you through Hellnar and finally to Arnarstapi. The drive from Keflavík takes about 3.5 hours, and from Reykjavík around 2.5 hours, depending on weather and stops. The route is scenic, passing lava fields, coastal views, and mountain landscapes.
By public transport:
It is possible to travel to Arnarstapi by bus from Reykjavík, but it requires connection. First take a Strætó bus (route 55) to Borgarnes. From Borgarnes, continue toward Snæfellsnes Peninsula with a regional or summer-only route that stops in Hellnar or Arnarstapi (route 83). You can double check your bus connections here.
