The Team
It was through our desire to learn more, connect with others and take a deep dive into self-care that our paths crossed many years ago. Soffía and Mirjam originally met through a rebozo workshop. Mary and Soffía met in Poland at a European Doula Network meeting and Mary and Mirjam met at a Midwifery Today conference in Bad Wildbad.
We all have a passion for networking, learning and laughing and know nothing more empowering than being surrounded by like-minded women. We enjoy each other's company so much and wanted to find ways of spending more time with and learning from each other so the idea of Bella Doula Retreats was born!
We have nearly 60 years of combined experience walking beside and holding space for birth workers, birthing people and young families and we are absolutely thrilled to have created a nurturing space where you too can learn more to enhance your doula practice and to form deep supportive friendships with a people who are just as passionate about birth as you are!

Mary Kalau
Nurturing...Passionate...Intuitive
Mary began her doula journey nearly 30 years ago. She’s had the honor of attending hundreds of births on two continents. She’s a Spinning Babies Parent Educator, Hypnobirthing instructor, Body Ready Method Pro and a doula mentor. She has two grown children and lives near Frankfurt with her husband. Mary loves many things but nothing tops quality time spent with loved ones!
Mirjam de Keijzer
Calm...Adventurous...Sassy
Mirjam is a rebozo trainer and prenatal educator who lives in Dieren, the Netherlands and has been passionately spreading the knowledge of rebozo for the past decade. She has two grown children and it is because of them that she is doing the work she is doing.
Mirjam loves travel, hiking and meaningful conversations.
Soffía Bæringsdóttir
Grounded...Wise...Playful
Soffía is an experienced doula, doula trainer, parent-infant specialist and a family therapist working primarily with new families. She is married, has three children and dog. She lives in Reykjavík, Iceland. Soffía loves long summer nights and believes that laughter is the best medicine.
